  15. <p>     DIED. ARTHUR KRIM, 84, presidential adviser and movie-studio
  16. head; in New York City. His work as a Democratic fund raiser
  17. led to close relationships with John F. Kennedy, Jimmy Carter
  18. and particularly Lyndon Johnson, who assigned a White House
  19. room to Krim and his wife Dr. Mathilde Krim (today a leading
  20. AIDS researcher). In Hollywood he watched over the fate of two
  21. major studios. Krim was part of a team that took over the ailing
  22. United Artists studio in 1951 and revitalized it with artists
  23. like Peter Sellers and Woody Allen. In 1978 Krim and other UA
  24. executives left the studio to found Orion Pictures. Krim's reign
  25. there included the highs of Arthur and Silence of the Lambs
  26. and the low, in 1992, of bankruptcy, which prompted Krim's resignation.
