- <p> DIED. ARTHUR KRIM, 84, presidential adviser and movie-studio
- head; in New York City. His work as a Democratic fund raiser
- led to close relationships with John F. Kennedy, Jimmy Carter
- and particularly Lyndon Johnson, who assigned a White House
- room to Krim and his wife Dr. Mathilde Krim (today a leading
- AIDS researcher). In Hollywood he watched over the fate of two
- major studios. Krim was part of a team that took over the ailing
- United Artists studio in 1951 and revitalized it with artists
- like Peter Sellers and Woody Allen. In 1978 Krim and other UA
- executives left the studio to found Orion Pictures. Krim's reign
- there included the highs of Arthur and Silence of the Lambs
- and the low, in 1992, of bankruptcy, which prompted Krim's resignation.
